Wellington Prison, commonly known as Mt Crawford Prison on the Miramar Peninsular officially closed in November after 85 years in operation. It had reached the end of it’s life and fell short of the expectations of a modern correctional facility. The Department of Corrections kindly allowed me a couple of hours to document some of the empty spaces.
I went to Tolaga Bay last month for the Allan Wilson Centre for Molecular Ecology & Evolution to photograph the horticulture students graduating. It was a special day.

I photographed the red carpet event at the world premier of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey for Reuters News Agency
I had a very challenging assignment last week photographing a school holiday program at the Capital E Soundhouse. The studio where the kids were making computer games was virtually unlit with the main light source being the computer monitors. I decided not to use flash as that would ruin the mood of the images. Instead I cranked up the film speed, lowered the shutter speed and used the available light from the monitors.
